The king of  Vanga  (present-day  Bengal ) married a princess (named Mayavati in some  versions) of the neighbouring  Kalinga  (present-day  Odisha ). The couple had a daughter named Suppadevi, who was prophesied to copulate with the king of beasts. As an adult, Princess Suppadevi left Vanga to seek an independent life. She joined a caravan headed for  Magadha , but it was attacked by Sinha ("lion") in a forest of the Lala (or Lada) region. The  Mahavamsa  mentions the "Sinha" as an animal, but some modern interpreters state that Sinha was the name of a beastly outlaw man living in the jungle. Sinha kept Suppadevi locked in a cave, and had two children with her: a son named  Sinhabahu  (or Sihabahu; "lion-armed") and a daughter named Sinhasivali (or Sihasivali). According to the  Mahavamsa , the original inhabitants of Sri Lanka are the  Yakshas  and northern  Naga  tribes.  According to  folklore , the  Naga  people were one of the groups of original inhabitants of Lanka. They were said to have ruled  Nagadeepa , or  Jaffna Peninsula  and  Kelaniya . A large  settlement  appears to have been founded before 900 BC at the site of  Anuradhapura  where signs of an  Iron Age  culture have been found. The size of the settlement was about 15  hectares  at that date. Findings at  Iranamadu  indicate that there were Paleolithic people in Sri Lanka. The island appears to have been colonized by the  Balangoda Man &   the well known  Batadombalena  and the  Fa Hien Cave  have yielded many artefacts that points to them being the first modern inhabitants of the island. There is evidence from  Beli-lena  that  salt  had been brought in from the coast.  The skeletal remains of dogs from  Nilgala  cave and from  Bellanbandi Palassa,  suggest that Balangoda People may have kept domestic  dogs  for driving game. The  Balangoda Man  appears to have been responsible for creating  Horton Plains , in the central hills, by burning the trees in order to catch game. Sri lanka is a small island in Indian Ocean which has a past talking about many things. There are series of interesting events are available behind it's historic incidents that are worth to investigate. We have such a beautiful history that we should speak with our future generation about it's beautiful objects gathered together. ඉන්දියන් සාගරයේ පිහිටා ඇති කුඩා දූපතක් වන ශ්‍රී ලන්කාව පිලිබඳ අතීත කථා වස්තූන් බොහෝ ඇත. ඉතිහාසයේ බොහො සිද්ධීන් පිටුපස ඇති එම කථා මාලාවන් සිත් ගන්නා සුළු අතර දිගින් දිගටම ඒ ගැන සොයා බැලීම වටී. මෙවන් සුන්දර අතීතයක් හිමි අප එම සුන්දර කථා වස්තූන් අනාගත පරම්පරාවට බෙදා දීම අපගේ පරම යුතුකමක් බව සලකමු.💙💙💙
